EXCHEQUER REPORT: Do not have the most recent bank statement. Deposited funds from Mooselmas; Deposit of $670 for gate; $200 for cash; $30 NSF; needed $1100 to break even. Needs to meet with someone tomorrow (Geiri or Randwulf) to sign checks. Running balance of $3960. Outstanding checks had not been cashed. Will have about $3500 after checks clear
No expenses coming up right away. Received a bunch of blank checks for previous account. They have been shredded by the bank. Has a box of files that are more than 3 years old.
Immediate business: 2nd Q reports. Will go over with Kseniia & Geiri (Summits Principality Exchequer).
MARSHALL’S OFFICE: We are dealing with a paperwork issue regarding our current marshal Llelan McClellan. Sir William and Feradach are aware of the situation with the paperwork; however, without a currently authorized Marshal, Tymberhavene is not able to host martial activities, at this time. This would leave the Shire with only 2 of the 3 requisite officers…
OFFICER BUSINESS: Baron Randwulf has taken on the position of Herald to ensure the Shire has 3 officers. He has stepped down as Deputy Seneschal in order to take on this role.
Old Business
MOOSELMAS: 41 people through gate; 3 adult Non-Members; 2 children non-members; 3 children members. We had 41 people on site; 31 paid through gate. Not bad; a lot better than not having an event.
All but two of the championships were held (Thrown Weapons, no martial; A&S, no entries)
Heavy, Cut & Thrust, Rapier, Bocce Ball, Bardic, Archery all had champion change-overs. Most of the branches were represented at the event, as well (No Southmarch or Mountain’s Edge).
New Business
BIRTHDAY BASH: Boy Scout Cabin at Mingus Park; Day Trip; September 28. Find out if site fee. Khanavati Event Steward. Get paperwork in to get listed on Kingdom calendar for Official Event.
NEW MEMBERS: Nicco, Nessie, and one other from Mooselmas
RECRUITING: We need to recruit. We have 20 members; we need deputies and we need officers. We need folks who are not burnt out or dealing with other life stressors.
No other new business.

SENESCHAL: Hi! Thanks for coming! We have 3 more people than the last meeting! Recap of the last two months: Mooselmas happened. We had three shire members at that meeting, one of which left early. The Principality Earl Marshal was present and offered to come and teach Marshalling classes.
August was just me, so there was no meeting.
Our Exchequer works as a firefighter, so he’s not able to be at as many events and meetings as he’d like. That said, our ending balance for August, as I’ve not received the September statement yet, was $3,359.40.
Old Business
BIRTHDAY BASH: We had 15 attendees; made $100 (no NMS). There were classes, dancing, gaming, and food. TAH were in attendance; all was well. Boy Scout Cabin rental was $10 with a $100 deposit that we will get back, eventually. So, we made $90 on the event, once we receive our deposit back.
New Business
NEEDED OFFICERS: Randwulf will be stepping down as Herald at the end of December when his membership is up. We need one more officer to keep going. Seamus stepped up as Arts & Science. He has offered to run monthly classes at the Coos Bay library–possibly Apothecary classes! Also noted that Snorri is unable to access the Chatelaine e-mail. Kseniia will look into this.
YULE BALL: Discussion of a Yule gathering, but of those of us present, no one was interested in stewarding the event. Anyone interested in stewarding this event, please contact Kseniia.
RECRUITMENT: Kseniia suggested running a demo in a highly visible, highly public place. Bring in fighters from all over, have mini-classes, A&S displays, bardic–essentially, a mini-event designed to drive public interest. Concerns were raised over not having a fighting community in the area. Discussions were had to keep the concepts realistic, yet also plan for laying the needed infrastructure for the Shire. Kseniia suggested having someone from a different Barony/Shire come in once a week to host fighter practices and teach people how to fight. She also suggested that if we truly wanted the Summits to become The Kingdom of the Summits, then we needed to start fostering that spirit of Kingdom here in the Shire–rely on others to help strengthen what we have; offer to help others to strengthen what they have. Build the community we want to see within a Kingdom we want to live in. To that end, it was suggested that we have others come in from other locales to teach Bardic–or even have focused-Bardic nights, monthly, to prepare for competitions; have others come in to teach classes; have various fighters come in to teach different techniques. With planning, focus, and camaraderie, we can build what we want to see within the SCA.
